This 4 Days Murchison Falls Safari Explore Uganda’s biggest national park covering 370 square kilometres viewing several wildlife and bird species and carrying out activities like game drives, chimp tracking in Budongo, launch cruise on the Nile and a visit to the top of the falls. The safari incorporates the rhino tracking activity at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to the only wild rhinos in Uganda.

Day 1: Pick up from the hotel/ transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Day 2: Chimp tracking to budongo then transfer to the lodge in Murchison
Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala

Detailed 4 Days Murchison Falls Safari itinerary

Day 1: Kampala>Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel by the Jewel Safaris professional safari driver guide who will brief you about the safari then you will transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. On arrival, you will check-in at the lodge then head out for the rhino tracking activity in the company of an armed game ranger.

The activity takes about 2 hours where you get an opportunity to watch the rhinos in their natural habitat. After the tracking activity, you will return for lunch at the lodge and afternoon relaxation awaiting an optional night game drive. The night game drive will present chances of spotting nocturnal animals such as; pangolins and Aardvark. Other animals that may be spotted include waterbucks, Oribi, and bushbucks.

Day 2: Budongo> Murchison.

After breakfast, we shall check out of the lodge and drive to Kaniyo Pabidi for chimpanzee trekking experience, arriving in time for briefing. After the briefing, you will be led into the forest through the tracking trail by a ranger. The guide will explain more about the animals, birds, and plant species that you will encounter along the trail. Some of these species that you will encounter include black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys among others.

Depending on the movement of the chimpanzees, the activity can take about three hours. Upon finding the chimps, you will have about an hour watching them play, eat, rest, and go about their day. After tracking, you will visit the top of the falls before proceeding to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park.

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast, and head out for a game drive in the savannah in search of wildlife such as Nubian giraffes, Lake Chad buffalos, lions, spotted hyenas, savannah elephants, Uganda kobs, Lelwel’s hartebeest, common warthogs, oribi, bohor’s reedbuck and many birds like Black-headed Lapwing, Blue-headed Coucal, Giant kingfisher, Swamp flycatcher, Red-throated bee-eater, Black-billed barbet. The game drive is conducted in the Northern sector.

After the game drive, you will have lunch at the lodge then prepare for a thrilling boat cruise on the Nile. The launch cruise will grant you an opportunity to an eccentric view of the Nile, amidst the encounter of the huge Nile crocodiles, hippos, and several other wildlife and waders like African skimmers on the lake shores. You will later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Murchison>Kampala.
