Hotel des Mille Collines, located in Kigali, Rwanda, gained international recognition during the Rwandan Genocide in 1994. As violence and chaos engulfed the country, the hotel’s manager, Paul Rusesabagina, sheltered over a thousand people, mostly Tutsis and moderate Hutus, within its walls.

Despite facing immense danger, Rusesabagina negotiated with the authorities and used his connections to ensure the safety of the hotel’s guests.
