6 Days Rwanda Primate Kingdom Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the Kigali International Airport
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be meet with a warm welcome by our company representative. Exchange some money in local currency then drive to the hotel for an overnight stay. Your professional guide driver will be at the airport ahead of time waiting for you.

Hotel des Mille Collines
Hotel des Mille Collines, located in Kigali, Rwanda, gained international recognition during the Rwandan Genocide in 1994. As violence and chaos engulfed the country, the hotel’s manager, Paul Rusesabagina, sheltered over a thousand people, mostly Tutsis and moderate Hutus, within its walls.
Despite facing immense danger, Rusesabagina negotiated with the authorities and used his connections to ensure the safety of the hotel’s guests. His bravery and humanity in the face of unimaginable horror were later immortalized in the film “Hotel Rwanda,” bringing global attention to the atrocities of the genocide. Today, the hotel stands as a symbol of resilience and hope, showcasing the power of compassion and solidarity in the darkest of times.
Day 2: City Tour with a Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
After your breakfast, you will start your Kigali City Tour with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Later, you will be transferred to Nyungwe National Park, the home of chimpanzees. The journey south ouest passes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape. In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk adventure in Nyungwe National Park. Visit and enjoy the property amenities.

Day 3: Forest National Park, Chimpanzee Trekking, Tea Plantation
On this day, you will enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before embarking on a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzee communities. The Rwandan chimpanzee population is thought to consist of approximately 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park, including a small community in the Cyamudongo Forest. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest.
During your hike, you may also spot migratory birdlife including the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow, hawk and regal sunbird. Later proceed with tea plantation experiences around the park. After these experiences, transfer to the shore of Lake Kivu.

Day 4: Boating, Coffee Experiences Crop to Cup, Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will start your morning boat cruise exploring different islands located on the lake. On this day, you will drive to Volcanoes National Park. On your way have a stopover and enjoy the Rwanda coffee experiences at Kopakiki Cooperative. On arrival, spend your time at leisure enjoying property amenities at the lodge.

Day 5: Volcanoes National Park, Cultural Experiences
On this special day, early breakfast at the hotel then, proceed to the park headquarters in time for your Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00. Your guided walk begins at 08h00. The largest gorilla group or family ever studied is in Rwanda and was led by Cantsbee (who died in 2017). This was the oldest known mountain gorilla in the whole world. A gorilla family is led by a silverback.
These troops also include several younger males, adult, and juvenile females, and infants. After this exciting experience, descend the mountains and rejoin your driver guide. You will be transferred to your hotel in time for lunch and cleaning and boots. In the afternoon transfer to Musanze city with an afternoon cultural experience at the Gorilla Guardians formery Ibyiwacu Cultural Village. You’ll later have a transfer back to Kigali for your night life experience.

Day 6: Shopping, Relaxation Enjoying Property Amenities in Kigali City
On your last day in Kigali, we will drop you off for your outbound flight back home.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
All visitors to Rwanda must have a valid passport with at least 4 consecutive blanks pages. Any applicable visa and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveller. For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest Rwanda Embassy or Consulate.

220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the UMEME in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.
CURRENCY:
Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort. Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country. Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.
CLOTHING:
Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
BAGGAGE:
Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.
WATER:
You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.
HEALTH;
East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions. Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:
Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs. Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray
Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform. Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages. If in doubt, please check with your guide.
