Day 1: Arrival to Addis Ababa Ethiopia

Clients will be greeted upon arrival to Bole International Airport, regardless of arrival time and transferred to your hotel Located in the center of the country. Addis Ababa is Ethiopia’s geographic, political and cultural hub. Addis is distinct from many other African capitals because it was not developed under colonial rule. One of its best-known sites is the National Museum of Ethiopia, which houses the remains of “Lucy,” a bipedal hominid who lived 3.2 million years ago and was discovered in 1974.

If you arrive early perhaps take a tour of this bustling city, Established by the Emperor Menelik II in 1887. The optional city tour will include the National Museum, where you’ll find the famous remains of ‘Lucy’, and the Ethnographic Museum set within the beautiful gardens of Haile Selassie’s former palace. We gather for a welcome dinner with our fellow travelers this evening.

Day 2: Flight to Bahirdar

Take a morning flight to Bahirdar, arrival and transfer to your hotel, after breakfast take a boat trip on Lake Tana and visit two of the most accessible and representative of the monasteries with very beautiful well painting from the medieval time still serving their original function, Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam then ride back to Bahirdar on the way see the outlet of the famous Blue Nile the longest river in the world as it depart from the lake.

Lunch break and Afternoon a drive to the Blue Nile Falls, (the water amount of the fall is depending on the rain), but the drive and walking by its self is great and enjoyable, Overnight hotel.

Day 3: Drive to Gondar (Camelot of Africa)

Our trip continues to Gondar (185 km) via a magnificent landscape of the Amhara region. We will have a quick stop at Awra Amba community, egalitarian society. Unlike other parts of the country, in this community women have equal rights as men, and there is no distinction in divisions of labor between men and women.

Then continue driving to the city of Gondar, which used to be the seat of many Emperors who ruled Ethiopia in the 17th and 18th century.

The town is the gateway to the Simien Mountains. After lunch, we will visit the famous castles of the town, where former rulers built numerous palaces for themselves and their families. We continue our journey to the bath of King Fasilidas, where Timkat festival is annually hosted. This is one of the famous festivals in Ethiopia and held annually to celebrate the baptism of Jesus. We finish the day with a visit to the church of Debre Berhan Selassie, which is famous for its beautiful ceiling paintings.

Day 4: Flight to Lalibela (Eight Wonders of the World)

Morning after breakfast transfer to the Airport for your flight to Lalibela the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lalibela is noted as The, New Jerusalem” – a town for internationally renowned rock hewn churches known as, Eight wonders of the world, physically praised from the rock in which they stand, these towering edifices seems to be superhuman creation in scale workman ship and concept begin to explore the rock-hewn churches of the remarkable king Lalibela, visiting the Northwestern Cluster of churches – Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha.

Finally, visit the most famous of all the churches Bet Giyorgis, a huge monolith in the shape of a cross, and constructed in honor of St. George, the patron saint of Ethiopia

Day 5: Flight to Addis Ababa – Departure

After breakfast visit the Southeastern Cluster of churches-Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Amanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. then transfer to the airport to fly back to Addis Ababa, on arrival more free time for Shopping and evening head to the farewell Evening cultural dinner party in one of the Traditional Ethiopian restaurant with dances from the different ethnic Groups then transfer to airport for your international departure.

220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the government in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.
CURRENCY: Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.
CLOTHING:
Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
BAGGAGE:

Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.

WATER:

You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.

HEALTH;
East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards: Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.
