After an early breakfast, family members aged 15 and above who are participating in gorilla trekking will transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for the morning briefing. Experienced park rangers will explain the trekking procedures, safety guidelines and conservation regulations before accompanying you into the beautiful bamboo forests and volcanic slopes in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.

Your mountain gorilla trekking experience offers an extraordinary opportunity to spend up to one hour observing these magnificent primates in their natural habitat. You may witness powerful silverbacks, playful youngsters and mothers caring for their infants while learning about their fascinating social behaviour. The trekking duration varies depending on the location of the gorillas and forest conditions.

Meanwhile, younger children who are not eligible for gorilla trekking can enjoy suitable cultural or nature-based experiences around Musanze with a pre-arranged supervising adult or caregiver. Depending on their ages and interests, activities may include a guided village visit, traditional crafts or a relaxed exploration of the surrounding countryside. These arrangements will be organised in advance to ensure that younger family members enjoy their own memorable experiences.
