This 9 Days Zambia Vacation starts from the Valley of the Leopards in South Luangwa National Park. We will then proceed to the Lower Zambezi National Park, and finally, visit the spectacular Victoria Falls in Livingstone. Each destination has something unique to offer, from wide-open plains and stunning vistas with untamed wildlife to Africa’s Big Five. Day 1: Arrival Zambia | Travel To South Luangwa National Park | Thrilling Game Drive

On arrival in Zambia in the morning, you will be welcomed and picked by our Kubwa Five Safaris guide who will be holding an A4 paper with your name printed on it at Mfuwe International Airport and be transferred to South Luangwa National Park. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and have lunch. After lunch, you will go on a thrilling game drive. The park has a high density of wildlife and it is famous for its large population of leopards. Dinner and overnight at Marula Lodge.

Day 2: Walking Safari | Evening Game Drive In South Luangwa National Park

After the breakfast, you will head out on a bush walk with an armed guide to discover a level of detail you simply can’t experience from the safety and comfort of a safari vehicle. After the walking safari, head back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation In the evening, you will head out for a game drive in South Luangwa National Park.

The park is right at the end of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, with the river winding through the vast parklands, making for epic landscapes. This abounding natural beauty also attracts wildlife and huge concentrations of big game can be found here, such as lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, hippos, and many other animal species. Dinner and overnight at Marula Lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive In South Luangwa National Park | Fly To Lusaka

After breakfast, we will head out for a morning game drive in South Luangwa National Park. The park is home to numerous large lion prides. You will also find elephants, buffalo, zebras, and pukus in abundance here. After the game drive, you will be transferred from Mfuwe to Lusaka for a flight. Dinnefr and overnight at Mama Tembo Cheza.

Day 4: Travel To Lower Zambezi | River Safari | Sunset Cruise

After breakfast, we’ll depart from Lusaka heading to Lower Zambezi. The drive should take about 3 to 4 hours. On arrival, you will check into your lodge and have a short break, then go on a river safari on the mighty Zambezi River. We will enjoy a sunset cruise to end the day. As its name suggests, Lower Zambezi National Park is dominated by Africa’s fourth-longest river as it flows eastward from Kariba Dam towards its Indian Ocean mouth.

Flanked by an ever-mutating network of islands, sandbars and channels, this compellingly wild stretch of the Zambezi supports high densities of elephant, buffalo, hippo and crocodile. River safaris also offer exceptional birdwatching, while game drives in the atmospheric winter-thorn forest are highly productive for predators, notably lion, leopard and African wild dog. Dinner and overnight at Kiambi Lower Zambezi.

Day 5: Travel To Livingstone | Siavonga | Visit Choma Museum

After an early breakfast, we will depart for Livingstone. We will have a stopover in Siavonga, a town that lies on Lake Kariba, the biggest man made lake in the world. We will also have a tour of the Choma Museum which houses the history of the Tonga speaking people of Zambia.

Zambia’s former capital Livingstone is practically synonymous with the majestic Victoria Falls, a bucketlist UNESCO World Heritage Site situated just 10km from the town center. It’s also an engaging town to explore in its own right, boasting an interesting mix of early 19thcentury architectural landmarks, quirky museums, funky restaurants, well-stocked shops and lively markets. Dinner and overnight at Maramba River Lodge.

Day 6: Helicopter View Of Victoria Falls | Guided Tour Victoria Falls | Game Drive In Mosi Oa Tunya NP

After breakfast at around 8 am, you will be picked up for a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls (20 minutes’ drive one way). Times are flexible, you have the option to choose the time to do an activity. After the scenic flight over Victoria Falls at around 10 am, you will go on a tour of Victoria Falls on the Zambian side.

During the tour, the guide will give you all the necessary information on Victoria Falls, Zambezi River as well as the flora and fauna of the area. Return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will head out for a game drive and a rhino walk in the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park which is located in Livingstone. It is home to various different wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, hippos, antelopes, Cape buffaloes and many more. The rhino walk allows us to get closer to the white rhinos found in the park. Dinner and overnight at Maramba River Lodge.

Day 7: Swimming In The Devils Pool | Visit Mukwalantila Village

After breakfast, you will go swimming in the Devils Pool. After seeing the Victoria Falls from an aerial view as well as head-on, it would only be right to become part of the Victoria Falls by swimming in the Devils Pool. This natural pool formed right on the edge of the falls, allowing you to live life on the edge. After the swim, you’ll visit Mukwalantila village. This village is about 85 kilometers north of Livingstone.

This cultural tour is meant to be a half-day or full-day insight into a typical Tonga village. A site is earmarked for our campsite for those tourists who would wish to spend a night in a Zambian Village. This tour is meant to showcase the lifestyle of the Tonga people of the southern province who may be found ploughing, harvesting, or gardening, depending on the season. Dinner and overnight at Maramba River Lodge.

Day 8: Water Rafting | Sunset Cruise on Zambezi River

After breakfast, you will go water rafting on the Zambezi River. Test your courage by taking on the magnificent rapids, from rapid 1 to rapid 22 with some rapids rated Grade V. After a long day navigating the Zambezi rapids, we will take time to relax on a sunset cruise on the upper Zambezi with some drinks and snacks and enjoy the beautiful picture that nature will paint as the sun sets. Dinner and overnight at Maramba River Lodge.

Day 9: The Last Day With Us | Transfer To Airport | Flight Back Home

After breakfast, you will head to town for shopping and lunch. Afterward, you will be dropped off at Livingstone Airport for your scheduled flight back home. We look back on our time together and the wonderful safari memories that we’ve shared. It’s been an amazing journey and although we say goodbye as your tour ends, we look forward to welcoming you back with us again one day.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON A ZAMBIA SAFARI
 
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: All visitors to Zambia must have a valid passport with at least 4 consecutive blanks pages.  Any applicable visa and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveller.  For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest Zambia Embassy or Consulate.

TIME: GMT +3
 
VOLTAGE: 220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the government in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.
 
CURRENCY: Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.
 
CLOTHING: Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
 
BAGGAGE: Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.
 
WATER: You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.
 
HEALTH; East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards: Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.
 
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: For those guests with specific dietary requirement, please ensure we are notified prior to travel
 
GRATUITIES: As a guideline and dependent on how happy you are, we would suggest the following: The General Hotel/Lodge/Camp Staff – Approximately U$ 10.00 per person per day Driver Guides – Approximately US$ 15.00 to US$ 20.00 per person per day.
 
PHOTOGRAPHY: Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform.  Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages.  If in doubt, please check with your guide.
