14 Days Uganda Rwanda Study Tour Overview
14 Days Uganda Rwanda Study Tour is designed for students & professors to visit important historical sites, communities & education institutions to give an understanding of the Genocide against the Tutsi, post genocide recovery initiatives & how these are contributing to the development of Rwanda. There will be communities & conservation organisations interactions to learn about the challenges they face. Wildlife safaris & Chimp Trek will part of the activities.
Arrival for 14 Days Uganda Rwanda Study Tour
You’ll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1: Arrive Entebbe Airport, Uganda Transfer to Makerere University
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representative welcomes the students on Uganda Rwanda Educational Tour & Gorilla Trekking to Uganda, he will do the briefing prior to transfer to Makerere University. Overnight Makere University Guest House or similar.

Day 2: Visit Katanga Slums, Uganda Museums & Mulago National Referral Hospital
After breakfast, we shall start with Katanga Slum; The Katanga slum is different from others around the Kampala area. It doesn’t have street kids huffing petrol, getting in fights & stabbing each other every night. Instead it’s full of families; mostly single mothers & their children, abandoned by the father, or widowed by AIDS, Malaria, or some other disease or accident.
Many of these women have difficulty finding work to support themselves & their children and so, often, they are forced to turn to prostitution. This is the root of the orphan cycle. Women who abandon their children to the streets, or to some “orphanage” where the kids will receive a bed, school fees, & three square meals a day; or simply have them adopted.

Day 3: White Water Rafting, Jinja & Ndere Troupe
Early morning breakfast & we drive to join other rafters at the Oasis mall to depart for jinja, upon arrival you will be joined by river expert guides to begin your adventure.
The route includes eight Grade 3–5 rapids (two are Grade 5: Overtime & The Bad Place/Itanda Falls). While on the river, you’ll get to see a lot of different birds, and you can swim in the calm stretches of water between the rapids.
At night we shall go for traditional entertainment at the Ndere Troupe
The Ndere Centre a purpose-built venue, set in large lawns on the outskirts of the city at Ntinda, is home to the well-known Ndere Troupe. Performances of traditional dance & music from all corners of Uganda are put on every Sunday btn 18.00 & 21.00. Additional performances include an excellent Afro-jazz night each Thursday and a talent show on Fridays for up-and-coming artists. Overnight Makere University Guest House or similar.

Day 4: From Kampala-Rhino Trekking, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Wildlife Ranch – Lira
After an early morning breakfast, we shall start our journey towards the north of the country, the journey takes you through the famous Luwero Triangle before trekking the rhinos at the ziwa rhino sanctuary and later proceed on to Lira arriving in the evening. Overnight Lira Hotel or similar.

Day 5: Visit IDP Camps & Barlonyo massacre grave in Lira
This day focuses on the return & reintegration of former child soldiers. It is estimated that four fifths of abductees will eventually leave the LRA, & process of coming out of a rebel ground & returning to society can be challenging. We will take you to the NGOs in Lira town who have campaigned for those who have been abducted.
On the journey to the sites, you will listen to the stories of children who were abducted from these sites, and learn about their experiences in the group, including how abductees were made to fight with the rebels, the process of indoctrination they underwent within the LRA, how they ended up leaving the group, and the reintegration process once they returned. This tour will take you through the making and unmaking of child soldiers. On this day we shall also visit Barlonyo IDP camp, where over 300 people were massacred in February 2004. Day 6: From Lira City transfer to Gulu City
After breakfast we shall drive to Gulu & on arrival we shall visit Lokodi IDP Camp. Ludoki IDP Camp village is located 11 miles from Gulu town in northern Uganda. The Lord’s Resistance Army attacked the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camp at Lukodi on 19th May 2004, massacring over 60 civilians. At the time of the massacre, there were 7,000 civilians at the camp, and only 30 soldiers to protect them.
The rebels burnt huts, abducted scores of children and adults, mutilated those they did not abduct or kill and looted anything they could. The army reinforcements arrived too late. The dead were buried in shallow graves at the camp. Dominic Ongwen, the LRA commander currently facing trial at the International Criminal Court, directed the attack. He has been indicted for 13 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity for the massacre. Afterwards return to the hotel. Overnight at Acholi Inn or similar.

Day 7: From Guru transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast drive to Murchison Falls National Park arriving through Porongo gate proceed to Paraa for boat cruise to the bottom of the fall, you hike to the Top of the falls where you find your vehicle and drive back to Paraa. Overnight Gipir & Labongo Safari Lodge, Murchison Falls National park.

Day 8: Murhison Falls National Park transfer to Kibale National Park
After an early morning breakfast subsequently a game drive will be followed by a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. This drive is incredibly scenic, going through western rift valley floor & escarpments, tea plantations, sugarcane plantations and lush green countryside which characterizes so much of Uganda. Kibale National Park is a habitat for over 13 primate species which you’re likely to encounter most of them during your visit time. Overnight at Mountains of the moon Hotel or similar.

Day 9: Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking experience, kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park
The Uganda chimpanzee trekking experience is a unique opportunity that will allow you to follow a chimpanzee group in its daily activities. Accompanying Kibale reserve researchers & rangers, you will be on the forest floor to watch the chimps search for their fruits & vocalizing. Then you will follow them for an hour observing the full gamut of their behavior.
You will be part of the Uganda Wildlife Authority initiative to trek the chimpanzees without changing their natural environment. It’s one of the great moments of your safari! In the afternoon do the community & swamp walk offered by the member of Bigodi Community. It’s one way of learning about the traditional cultural of Africa. After the day experience transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Overnight at Kazinga View Resort or similar.

Day 10: Game Drive Safari & Boat Cruise safari Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early morning breakfast, participate in a morning game drive. The drive through the Kasenyi Plains which is a spot for predators hunting the prey. The game drive provides you with an excellent opportunity to view animals such as jackals, bushbucks, forest hogs, Buffaloes, elephants & kob as they will be going about their daily routines. In the afternoon, head to a fantastic launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel & observe beautiful birds & wildlife.
A Ugandan wildlife safari without a boat cruise safari on Kazinga Channel is considered incomplete. The channel attracts large concertation of wildlife & birdlife to quench their thirst & this boat launch safari would certainly expose you to these creatures. After the boat safari enjoy the evening game viewing as you return to the lodge. Overnight at Kazinga Channel View Resort or similar.

Day 11: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National park is famously known for tree climbing lion, after an early morning breakfast begin your journey to Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park with a stopover at ishasha sector for a game drive and thereafter proceed to Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Overnight at Casa Gorilla Lodge or similar.

Day 12: Uganda Gorilla Trekking Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to ranger station, Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park a head of the gorilla Trekking adventure. After a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular. The area offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists.
The time taken and the terrain varies depending on the movements of gorillas. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle & endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long-savoured. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity. After your day experience return back to the lodge. Overnight at Casa Gorilla Lodge or similar.

Day 13: Golden Monkey Trekking, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda – Kigali, Rwanda
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to Ntebeko visitors center a head of the Golden Monkey Trekking Tour. It’s a unique experience that will enhance your primate safari in Uganda! You will be led by a ranger guide and hike up into the volcanoes in search of these endangered monkeys and after you find them, you’ll be allowed to stay with them for an hour and then return to the trailhead to begin your journey to Kigali, Rwanda. Overnight at StepTown Hotel or similar.

Day 14: Kigali Rwanda Transfer to the airport for Departure
A leisurely morning breakfast, visit the kigali genocide museum to pay your last respect to the victims of the 1994 Rwandan genocide against Tutsi and depending on your outbound flight, this will be followed by a transfer to the airport targeting for your outbound flight marking the end of the 14 Day Uganda Rwanda Study Tour & Gorilla Trekking Trip.
