5 Days Big Five and Golf Safari Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our English speaking guide and driver who will transfer  you Sheraton Kampala Hotel, a 5 star hotel situated on 9 acres of plush Botanical Gardens in the city and only 5 minutes away from the central Business District where you will spend a majestic night.

DAY 2: Transfer to Kampala Golf Club.       

After breakfast, meet up with your Golfing Guide and proceed to the Kampala Golf Club for a pre-booked Tee-off time for the 18 hole game. In the afternoon, tour of the city and African crafts Markets, or have the afternoon at leisure experiencing Sheraton’s Kidepo Health Club, a dip in the swimming pool, or a body massage. Overnight at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

DAY 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – one of Uganda’s most frequented tourist destinations. The park features diverse ecosystems called home by a variety of wildlife species – ten primate species (including chimpanzees), more than 600 bird species, and classic big games. You will stop for lunch en route and Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park and then proceed into the beautiful Queen Elizabeth NP, arriving late afternoon (evening) and do little but just check into the accommodation and relax

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise              

Start the day with early game drives that expose us to diverse animals including the Big Five—elephants, buffaloes, big cats- lions, leopards, and rhinos. More times in the evening, warthogs, hunchback carnivals like hyenas are spotted along the circuits as we drive along, and many more species that are residents to this park. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the flamingos in the salt lakes at Kasenyi.

Enjoy a boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36km channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you’ll see land and water adapted hippos yawning, the National Geographical society killing machine, the Nile crocodile, gaping along the banks and savannah version of pigs, the warthog-Pumba are a hallmark sign in this animal home. With your binoculars along the peninsula, you’ll have a magnificent view of birds and animals like the ever-playing African elephants in waters.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe Airport for Depature.

 After breakfast at your residence, you will be transferred back to Entebbe Airport for a flight back home. The journey will have a number of stopovers including that of the Uganda Equator along Masaka road. Here you will be able to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres and also experiment how water swirls in different directions when placed in the northern and southern hemispheres. Take photos and even buy some of the beautiful souvenirs. Head straight to lodge.

Main destination: Entebbe Airport.             

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

All visitors to Uganda, Rwanda or Congo, Kenya and Tanzania must have a valid passport with at least 4 consecutive blanks pages.  Any applicable visa and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveller.  For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest East African Embassy or Consulate. 220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the UMEME in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.

CURRENCY:

Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.

CLOTHING:

Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.

BAGGAGE:

Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.

WATER:

You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration. 

HEALTH;

East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:

Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray

Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

For those guests with specific dietary requirement, please ensure we are notified prior to travel

As a guideline and dependent on how happy you are, we would suggest the following:

The General Hotel/Lodge/Camp Staff – Approximately U$ 10.00 per person per day

Driver Guides – Approximately US$ 15.00 to US$ 20.00 per person per day

Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform.  Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages.  If in doubt, please check with your guide.
