This 7 Days Kenya Big Five Safari will enable you visit the best parks and ecosystems to get close to the free-ranging elephants, have spectacular views of Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and get the best snapshots of the unique African sunset and sunrise in Amboseli.

7 Days Kenya Big five Safari Detailed Itinerary.

 

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

Your safari will start with a pick-up at JKIA or your Nairobi hotel. You will then drive to Amboseli National Park. You will arrive at Amboseli National Park and check in at Sentrim Amboseli Camp in time for lunch.

Freshen up and have hot lunch at the camp. At around 4 pm, after having some time to relax, you will proceed for an afternoon game drive. This is the best park to get close to the free-ranging elephants, over 1600 elephants, and have spectacular views of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.

Also, you will have an opportunity to get the best snapshots of the unique African sunset and sunrise. After the game drive, you will drive back to the camp.

You will freshen up and proceed for a warm dinner with soothing traditional music. You will later have an overnight at the camp.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

You will begin the day with an early morning game drive, return for a hot breakfast, freshen up and spend the rest of the midmorning at leisure, either swimming in the pool or just relaxing.

Later have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive. Finally, return to the camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast at the camp, you will head to Lake Nakuru National Park. On your way, you will have a stopover at the Great Rift valley viewpoint for a panorama view of the escarpment.

You will then proceed and arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch. Check in at Lake Nakuru Flamingo Hill Tented Camp. Freshen up and proceed for a hot lunch. After having some time to relax, you will head for an afternoon game drive. The game drive starts at the gate since the camp is inside the park.

This park is renowned for hosting thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos, hundreds of both black and white rhinos, and highly endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. Also, it has the best scenery and opportunity to see Makalia Waterfall.

After the game drive, you will head to the camp to freshen up and proceed for a freshly prepared hot dinner. Later have overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve

After having breakfast, you will exit the camp with a morning game drive. Later, you will head to Masai Mara, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves.

You will arrive at Masai Mara National Reserve in time for lunch. Check in at Mara Zebra Plain Camp and freshen up. Have some time to rest after having a hot lunch. At around 4 pm, proceed for an afternoon game drive. Together with Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Masai Mara Reserve forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible, and spectacular ecosystems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing ecosystem.

Masai Mara is globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, and cheetahs and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti annually from July to October. It is also known as the great wildebeest migration or the 7th Wonder of the world.

After the game drive, we will head back to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy dinner. Have our overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Masai Mara National Reserve

Have breakfast and exit the lodge with a packed lunch for a whole day game drive at the Mara Reserve, searching for the Big Five and other animals. In case your safari falls from July to October, you will drive to River Mara to witness the Mara crossing. You will witness wildebeest crossing the crocodile-loaded River Mara.

Finally, Return to the camp for dinner and turn in for the night.

Day 6: Masai Mara National Reserve

The day begins with  an early morning game drive in search of the big cat and the killings, return for breakfast, freshen up and spend the rest of the midmorning at leisure, either swimming in the pool or just relaxing. Later, have lunch and proceed for the evening game drive at around 4 pm, searching for Big Five and other animals.

In case your safari falls from July to October, you will have the privilege to witness the 7th Wonder of the World, the annual wildebeest migration, especially while crossing the crocodile-loaded River Mara. Finally, Return to the lodge for dinner and turn in for the night.

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi

After breakfast, you drive as you exit the park heading back to Nairobi. You will have a stopover at Lake Naivasha for a complimentary Hippo boat trip in Lake Naivasha, followed by an optional Crescent Island animal sanctuary tour-Naivasha Kept Secret.

Later, we will transfer you to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel. This is where your safari will end.

CURRENCY: Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort.   Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country.  Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.
 
CLOTHING:
Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
 
BAGGAGE:
Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.
WATER:
You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.
 
HEALTH;
East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions.  Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards: Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs.  Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.
