14 Days East Africa and Zanzibar Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park
Depart from Kampala early in the morning, aiming to leave by 7:00 AM. Drive towards Lake Mburo National Park, covering a distance of approximately 240 kilometres. You will arrive at Lake Mburo National Park by midday.
Check into your accommodation and have lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a game drive or a boat safari on Lake Mburo. In the evening, return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Explore Lake Mburo National Park
Start the day with an early breakfast at the lodge and go for a morning game drive or a guided nature walk. Lunch at the lodge. After lunch you will have horse riding activity

Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, check out from the lodge and start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the late afternoon. Thereafter, you will head out for a community walk where you will visit the Batwa, which is an Indigenous group of people that have lived in the forest for 500,000 years, and enjoy traditional dances.
Dinner and overnight at Four Gorillas Lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Have breakfast and move to the rangers’ post. You will receive some briefing on the dos and don’ts during gorilla trekking. Thereafter, you will enter the forest for your adventure and encounter. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular! The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken (4-8 hours) and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates.
Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. Return to the accommodation, and rest after a strenuous trek.

Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Transfer to Akagera National Park – Boat Cruise
After breakfast at the lodge, drive to the Kayonza district in the Eastern Province of Rwanda.
The journey to Akagera National Park will reward you with planned en-route stopovers along the route. Feel free to ask your driver-guide questions about the wonderful scenery and even request photographic stopovers along the way. As you arrive at the park, you will check in to your booked safari accommodation at the lodge and order your lunch. You will then proceed for a sunset boat ride on Lake Ihema with a chance to see the aquatic mammals such as hippos and crocodiles in the lake or on the shores. You will retire and drive back to the lodge, dinner, and rest.

Day 6: Safari Game Drive in Akagera National Park
You will start this day early in the morning after having your breakfast. You will leave for a full-day safari game drive in the park. (Order your packed lunch). You can expect to see the Big Five mammals (lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and leopard) as well as antelopes, kobs, and baboons, among others. Akagera National Park is a varied habitat for wildlife species in Rwanda and a birder’s haven with more than 500 bird species in the park. Later, in the afternoon you will transferred to Kigali at your hotel for dinner and rest for the next day drive.

Day 7: Kigali to Zanzibar (via Dar es Salaam)
Check out from the lodge after breakfast and depart for Dar es Salaam. The journey will take most of the day, so ensure an early start.
Arrive in Dar es Salaam by late afternoon or early evening.
Depending on ferry schedules, either board a ferry to Zanzibar or stay overnight in Dar es Salaam.
If staying overnight in Dar es Salaam, check into your accommodation and relax.
Dinner and overnight stay in Dar es Salaam.
Day 8: Travel to Zanzibar
Take an early morning ferry from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar.
Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to your beach house. Check-in and freshen up.
Spend the day relaxing on the beach, swimming, or exploring nearby attractions.
Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant or at your resort.
Overnight stay in Zanzibar.
Accommodation: Beach house
Day 9-11: Explore Zanzibar
After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Stone Town, exploring its narrow streets, historical buildings, and vibrant markets.
Visit attractions such as the Palace Museum, the Old Fort, and the House of Wonders.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit a spice plantation for a tour and tasting.
Return to your hotel for relaxation or continue exploring the beaches.
Dinner and overnight stay in Zanzibar.
Day 12: Zanzibar to Amboseli National Park.
Drive to Amboseli National Park. The park is famous for its herds of elephants, the Big Five, and the famous Africa highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. You will arrive time for lunch, have lunch then proceed to afternoon game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 13: Amboseli National Park – Tsavo East National Park
Breakfast and depart from Amboseli National Park in the morning and drive to Tsavo East with a game drive en-route. On arrival at the lodge check in and have lunch. Then proceed to an afternoon game drive in search of wildlife. Later, drive back to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 14: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, check out from your accommodation and start the journey back to Kampala.

All visitors to Ugandans with a valid passport or National id do not require a visa to access and cross EAC countries. For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest Uganda Embassy or Consulate.

220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the UMEME in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.
CURRENCY:
Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort. Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout these countries. Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency.
CLOTHING:
Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
BAGGAGE:
Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.
WATER:
You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 litres of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.
HEALTH;
East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions. Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:
Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs. Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray
Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.

Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform. Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages. If in doubt, please check with your guide.
