9 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and pick up from Entebbe
Your guide will pick you on arrival at Entebbe international airport and transferred to the hotel
Day 2: Drive to Kibale national park
After breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe, you will start your journey to the western part of Uganda enjoying the views of tea plantations along the way and also the scenic hills and other attractions. You will check in at the lodge and have your lunch and in the evening, you will have an optional tour around Fort Portal to visit the king’s palace or engage in a cultural tour and after return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi tour
You will wake up early for breakfast at the lodge and proceed to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. You will be briefed by the rangers and also divided into groups to begin your search for the chimpanzees in Kibale forest. During the search for the chimpanzees, you will encounter other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, baboons and also a variety of bird and butterfly species. You will also learn about the different tree species found in the forest.
An hour will be spent with the chimpanzees when you find them in Kibale forest and you will enjoy taking photos and recording the chimpanzees and observing their behavior. After completing the activity, you will return to the park headquarters where you will receive your certificates. You will also engage in the Bigodi tour during your visit to Kibale national park which is a guided nature walk and also an activity to experience the rich biodiversity and beauty of the Bigodi wetlands.
Bigodi is also a good birding spot and you will see various bird species during your tour and see more primates like black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, L’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys and also blue monkeys. After this tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park and Kazinga boat cruise
You will have breakfast and check out of the lodge in Kibale national park and your guide will drive you to Queen Elizabeth national park. You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park. After lunch you will engage in a boat cruise which takes place on Kazinga channel where Lake Edward and Lake George meet. During the boat cruise, you will enjoy seeing bird species along the water shores and also see wildlife species such as schools of hippos, buffalos, elephants, Nile crocodiles among others. After the boat cruise, you will be driven to the lodge for a relaxing evening and dinner and overnight stay overlooking the open plains of Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 5: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park
You will start the day with breakfast at the lodge and you will engage in game drives around Queen Elizabeth national park in the morning and in the afternoon in search of wildlife species such as elephants, lions, buffalos, antelopes, hippos and many others. After the game drives you will be driven to the lodge to have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Drive to Bwindi national park
After breakfast at the lodge and checking out, you will engage in a morning game drive around Queen Elizabeth national park in search of wildlife species like lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, impalas, waterbucks among others and then continue your drive to Bwindi national park.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking and optional batwa cultural tour
You will wake up for early breakfast at the lodge and your guide will drive you to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing. After briefing, you will be divided into groups of 8 and allocated rangers. You will move into the Bwindi impenetrable forest to being the search for the gorillas following different trails and when you find the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them. After seeing the gorillas, return to the park headquarters to receive your certificates. You will engage in an optional batwa cultural tour and interact with the locals, get to know more about their culture, watch and participate in traditional dances and later your guide will drive you to the lodge.

Day 8: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi
Your guide will pick you up from the lodge after breakfast and you will start the drive to Lake Bunyonyi. You will enjoy views of terraced hills and also visit the different islands of Bunyonyi during a boat ride with the locals who will also tell you stories about the islands. After the boat ride, you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Drive to Kampala
After having breakfast at the hotel in Bunyonyi, you will start your drive to Kampala and your guide will drop you off which will bring the tour to an end.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
All visitors to Uganda must have a valid passport with at least 4 consecutive blanks pages. The Government of Tanzania has rolled out an online Visa application portal accessible on internet. Any applicable visa and/or relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveler. For further information on Visa requirements visitors are advised to contact their nearest Uganda Embassy or Consulate.

TIME: GMT +3
CLIMATE: East Africa climate is predominantly tropical. The long rains are from mid-March to late May and the short rains from November to January. The hottest months are from October to February and the coolest months are June to August.
VOLTAGE: 220 Volts/AC50Hz. Sockets are UK style, 3 pin square plugs. Power is from the National Grid in the city/major towns and generator with inverter back up in the Safari Lodges and Camps.
CURRENCY: Foreign currency must be changed at the Bank, Bureau de Change, and Hotel/Safari lodge/Camp/Resort. Major Credit Cards, Master card, Visa, American Express, are usually accepted throughout the country. Where credit cards are accepted, the payment will normally be recorded in US$ regardless of the card’s default currency. However, US$ older than 2009 are only accepted
CLOTHING: Dress is mainly informal and should be comfortable as well as practical. Something warm should be brought along for early morning and evenings. Safari clothes are available from hotels/lodges/camps.
BAGGAGE: Where possible, travel light. Baggage space on safari is limited to medium suitcase or soft bag per person plus reasonable amount of hand luggage. There is 15 Kilogram per person limit on all flights to the wildlife sanctuaries. Excess luggage must be stored in your arrival hotel.
WATER: You will find many different of opinion of what is safe and what is not. We recommend for peace of mind, to drink local Bottled Mineral water. It is important to drink plenty of water especially during the hotter months. We would recommend that guests drink at least 2 to 3 litres of water per day to limit the effects of dehydration.
HEALTH: East Africa is a safe and secure destination; however, it is a good idea to take a few precautions. Kindly consult your GP or local doctor at least 6 weeks before you travel, with regards:
Malaria prophylactics. East Africa is a known malaria area and preventive measures are essential. You are advised to take one of the recommended anti-malarial drugs. Be sure to wear long sleeved shorts and trousers after sunset and spray the exposed parts of your body with a mosquito repellent spray. The hotels provide mosquito repellent sachets as part of the room’s amenities in all our locations.
Remember to protect yourself from direct sun rays with sunscreen cream or safari hat.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: For those guests with specific dietary requirement, please ensure Nextgen Safaris is notified prior to travel so that the respective Hotels and Lodges are informed
GRATUITIES: As a guideline and dependent on how happy you are, we would suggest the following:
The General Hotel/Lodge/Camp Staff – Approximately U$ 10.00 per person per day
Driver Guides – Approximately US$ 15.00 to US$ 20.00 per person per day
PHOTOGRAPHY: Please be careful when photographing public buildings, airports, bridges, the national flag and people in uniform. Ensure that you have sought permission before photographing local people and their villages. If in doubt, please check with your guide.
